“Look beyond what you can see, and there you will find Hakuna Matata”

(From Disney’s “The Lion King”)

After losing track of his family, the lion cub (and future Lion King) Simba finds new friends Timon (a meerkat) and Pumba (a warthog) in the middle of nowhere.

The three decide to look for a place with “no worries” which they referred to as Hakuna Matata. They have no idea where this Hakuna Matata might be but set off anyway. On their way they met a Mustafa (a baboon) and ask him the way to this Hakuna Matata place. Mustafa points at a far place and answers “look beyond what you can see, and there you will find Hakuna Matata”. Timon, Pumba and Simba are confused by the statement, but continue to look for this Hakuna Matata, and find it in the end.

How on earth does this heart-warming story relate to business life? Some thoughts:

  • If you have set out goals you need to achieve, you need to focus all your energies to make these goals come to pass. The effort to achieve the goals counts.
  • Goals in life are a basic drive to our living, when you have a goal then you will start dreaming, when you dream you start living, but when you stop dreaming you will stop living.
  • Never give up!
  • Listening is very important tool – if you meet someone you trust and get good advice, keep it as it will be handy with time.
  • Positive attitude yields good results and helps you go through all the hurdles you will meet along the way.
  • In our journey in life, all the people we meet have an important role to play, it’s up to us to make good use of who is placed on our table.
  • Nothing comes easy, you need patience in all you do and somehow you will get there

One of the things I like about working at Fusion is the combination of encouraging us to dream big dreams, and at the same time listening carefully and taking advantage of the experience and advice others can offer.
